Our Pastor and Staff

Ken and his wife, Dyan, have been active in the life of Covenant since 2015. Ken retired that summer, after 35 years of pastoral ministry. He has a Master of Divinity (1980) and a Doctor of Ministry (2000) from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington D.C.  Ken is native to New Jersey and began his ministry there, transferring to the Baltimore-Washington Conference in 1983.  He and Dyan live in Germantown.  They have three adult children (all living less than an hour's drive away!) and one grandson they are trying to spoil. Ken is an avid fan of the Washington National's, has been known to frequent Jimmy Buffet concerts, doesn't like his middle name and tells outrageous lies if you ask him what the "R" stands for

I discovered Covenant United Methodist Church while looking for a preschool for my daughter. We not only found a great preschool, but an am amazing church! I am blessed to have been welcomed onto the staff, and really enjoy giving back to a place that has been so welcoming to us. My son has now been through the Terrific Two's program, (which we also can't say enough good things about), and my daughter has officially finished the 3's and 4's program here. My husband and I are originally from Maine, but have lived in the Virginia/Maryland area for the past seven years and absolutely love this area. Contact Kerri by email.

I grew up on Long Island, NY., moved to Gaithersburg in 1983, and immediately found my church home at Covenant United Methodist Church.  In addition to directing the Chancel Choir and playing organ and piano here at Covenant, I have worked as a choral music teacher in the Sachem School District, NY and in the Montgomery County School System.  I am inspired by the wealth and diversity of talent represented in the Covenant family. I believe that music ministers to the congregation in a very special way and I search for music in a variety of styles that will provide joyful, welcoming and spirit-filled opportunities to praise and worship God.  Contact me by email if you have any questions about the music ministry at Covenant. Whether you sing, play an instrument, or can lead a musical group, we have a place for you!

In over 20 years that my husband, Steve, and I have been members of Covenant U.M. Church and we and our daughters have been touched in so many ways by this wonderfyl church family.  For a number of years as Youth Director, I was blessed with the chance to know and work with a great bunch of teenagers from our church community.  I am now the director if the Terrific Two's Ministry and enjoy every minute!  Reach me at (301) 926-8920 or email me here.

As an active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Bethesda, I enjoy spending my working hours supporting another faith community.  I love interacting with the Covenant members and Terrific Twos parents in many ways.  Call or stop by the church office on Monday- Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

My husband and I have been members of Covenant for over 17 years.  We have an 11 year old son who has attended the Terrific Twos Program and Preschool, and a 25 year old daughter.  I have been blessed to be the nursery care provider for several years now.  I look forward to being in the nursery every Sunday and being a familiar face to the children.  I also a assist in the Terrific Twos Program.  I am proud to be known as "Ms. Mary".

I attend Covenant UM Church with my husband and two sons.  I currently serve as the
Director of the Covenant Preschool, and I attend Covenant UM Church with my husband and two sons.  I began my journey with the preschool while my two sons were students there.   After substitute teaching there, I became a teacher for eight years until becoming the director.   The director of the Terrific Twos Program and I work closely together to form a cohesive preschool family.  My favorite time of the day is greeting each child and family and seeing their smiling faces when they arrive at school. Being involved in their lives and teaching these little children is my passion.   I work diligently to give them the proper foundation to begin their educational journey. It is important for me to help children develop a love for learning, respect for others, and a sense of confidence in themselves.  Email Lisa here.

I missed my work once I retired from my job as Director of  Accounting at a Washington-based non-profit in 2006.  When I learned of a part-time opportunity at Covenant,ow and worI did not have to think long and hard about it.  The bookkeeper was relocating and Covenant needed a replacement. In September 2001, I joined the staff at Covenant and  and have been working there  there ever since on a volunteer basis to take care of the church's financial records.  I enjoy the work I do but what makes it very special is being part of the Covenant family as they carry out they mission to bring God's love and word to the community.
